My husband and I had the privilege of babysitting our 13-month-old grandson last week, while our daughter and son-in-law had an anniversary getaway.  We truly enjoyed every minute of it!

There is something about being a grandmother that takes life to a new level.  I used to hear my other friends and family that had already joined the “grandparenting club” talk about it as they oozed with joy rifling through their photos.  I would politely nod and smile.  I knew it was special but there is nothing like truly living in the space. Now I get it!

It is so easy to care for my grandson and wanting to meet his every need, even before he asks.  He has been blessed with a plethora of food, toys, clothes, etc., and he doesn’t even know that he has all these things at his disposal.  I anticipate his needs long before he makes a request.  And this brings me joy.  I also am working to keep him out of danger by not allowing him to play with plugs or eat the dogs’ food.

It dawned on me that my love for my children, and now grandchild is only a small reflection of God’s love for me. He is taking care of me and has an answer to my problem long before it presents itself.  He also protects me and keeps me safe from harms way. I am reminded in Matthew 6:8, “Your Father knoweth what things you have need of, before you ask him.”

God is never unaware of what we are experiencing or what we need.  He delights in caring for us.  We don’t have to earn His attention.  He will provide if we have put our trust in Him. However, He will not force Himself upon us, but He is always willing and able.

Psalm 139:4, “Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.”

My love for my grandson is only a small reflection of God’s love for me.  Being a grandparent is just a glimpse of the amazing love our Father has for us.

Hopefully, the next time you are experiencing a need or are concerned about what tomorrow holds, realize God is already there and He has you, before you even ask.  God knows our needs and has an answer prepared before we even speak.
